Product explainer video

Show what your product does, in the time someone will actually give you.

A product explainer answers the question a visitor asks in the first ten seconds: what is this, and what does it do for me? AutoScribble builds one from a short written brief — the problem, the product and the outcome — and drafts the narration for you to edit. Choose the shape for where it will be watched, a voice, a length and whether your logo appears, then generate. You get a private MP4 you can put on the page, send to prospects or post.

The structure that works

Almost every product explainer that converts follows the same four beats: the problem the viewer recognises, the moment the product enters, what actually changes, and what to do next.

If you write your brief in that order, the drafted script usually needs very little editing.

What to include in the brief

Be specific about the change your product makes. Vague benefit language produces vague narration.

  • Who the viewer is, in one phrase
  • The problem in their words, not yours
  • What the product does, plainly
  • The measurable change, if you have one you can stand behind
  • The action you want at the end

A worked example

Brief: 'Explain to an independent retailer how our stock app replaces the Sunday spreadsheet. It scans barcodes, updates stock as sales happen and flags what to reorder. Ask them to start a free trial.'

That brief gives the script a viewer, a problem, three concrete capabilities and a closing action — enough for a 60-second explainer without further editing.

Where to put it

One explainer usually has several homes, and the shape should match each.

Cost and iteration

Rendering costs credits: 50 for thirty seconds, 100 for a minute, 200 for two minutes, with 100 welcome credits on a new account. Editing the script is free, so you can try several angles before spending anything.

When a version is close but not right, make changes lets you adjust the words, length, voice, shape, logo and images and order a new version; the cost is shown before you confirm.

Getting it in front of people

Download the MP4 in a click, or share straight from the video: an expiring private link for a prospect, an email to a saved list of recipients, or a written caption ready for X, Facebook, LinkedIn or YouTube Shorts.

Common questions

How long should a product explainer be?
Sixty seconds suits most products. Use thirty seconds for a single feature and two minutes only when the product needs a process explained.
Can I mention pricing in the video?
Yes, but write it in the brief exactly as you want it said, and remember the video will keep saying it until you make a new version.
Can I add screenshots of the product?
You can add your own images when you use make changes on a finished video, along with a note about where each should be used.
Can I make a portrait and a landscape version?
Yes. Make the first version, then use make changes and switch the shape to produce the second.
