What Whiteboard Animation Costs Across the Market
One dated table, all the billing terms normalised, updated on a schedule.
Whiteboard animation costs from nothing to thousands, depending on who makes it. Subscription tools published prices from about US$10 to US$100 a month per user in September 2026. Freelance and agency work is priced per project. AutoScribble prices per minute of finished video: 100 credits equals one minute, at GBP 9 / US$12 for 100 credits, or about GBP 4.90 a minute on the Pro plan.
The short answer
Comparing whiteboard animation prices is hard because nobody sells the same unit. Tools sell seats per month, some also ration clean exports, freelancers sell finished videos, and agencies sell projects. To compare honestly you have to convert everything to one number: the cost of one finished minute at your real volume. That is what the table below does, and why a US$15 subscription can be more expensive per video than a GBP 9 credit pack.
Who each option suits
Our judgement, based on the volume each pricing model rewards:
- Free tiers — learning, internal drafts, and deciding whether animation suits your message.
- Per-seat subscriptions — one or two people making several videos a month, every month.
- Per-export plans — a small, predictable number of published videos.
- Freelancers and agencies — a handful of high-stakes films a year.
- Per-minute credits — variable volume, several people, and a cost per video you can forecast.

Every figure is from the company own published page on the date shown. Terms are quoted as the vendor states them; where a plan rations exports, that is in the row, because an export allowance changes the real cost per video. This is the original element of this page, and it is refreshed on a schedule rather than left to age.

How to normalise any quote to one finished minute
Use this on every vendor you shortlist. It is the only comparison that survives contact with reality.
COST PER FINISHED MINUTE
= (monthly price + extra export fees)
/ minutes of finished video you publish that month
Worked examples at four published videos a month, one minute each:
Powtoon Lite US$15/mo, 5 premium exports included
= US$3.75 per finished minute
(a 6th video needs a higher plan)
Animaker Basic US$10/mo + extra exports at US$20 each
= varies sharply with your export allowance;
read the allowance before the headline price
Vyond Starter US$58/mo billed annually
= US$14.50 per finished minute
AutoScribble 4 x 100 credits = 400 credits
Pro plan GBP 49 for 1,000 credits
= about GBP 4.90 per finished minute
Now redo it at your real volume. The ranking changes.Where the more expensive route is worth it
Our judgement: pay more when the video needs something a template cannot invent. A Vyond seat earns its price when you need character animation and branching scenario training. An agency earns its fee on a launch film that carries the quarter. A freelancer earns theirs when you need one very specific illustrated style. Cheap is only an advantage when the expensive version would not have been better.
What the AutoScribble price includes
One hundred credits is one finished minute of narrated whiteboard explainer video: 30 seconds is 50 credits, 60 seconds is 100 and 120 seconds is 200. Every finished film downloads as a plain MP4 with no AutoScribble branding, in portrait, landscape or square, with your logo if you want it. Films that come out shorter than ordered are billed on actual seconds and the difference refunded to your balance. New accounts start with 100 welcome credits that never expire. UK customers are billed in GBP and others in USD, as a monthly plan or a one-off credit pack.
Next step
Work out your honest monthly minutes, run the formula above on your current shortlist, then spend your welcome credits on the video you needed anyway.

Common questions
- How much does whiteboard animation cost in 2026?
- Subscription tools published prices from about US$10 to US$100 a month per user when checked on 13 September 2026, with freelancers priced per video and agencies per project. AutoScribble prices per finished minute: 100 credits equals one minute, at GBP 9 / US$12 for 100 credits or about GBP 4.90 a minute on the Pro plan.
- What is the cheapest whiteboard animation tool?
- On headline price, Animaker lists Basic at US$10 a month and VideoScribe lists Lite at US$12.50 a month per licence billed annually (both checked 13 September 2026). On cost per published video, the answer depends on export allowances: Animaker lists extra exports at US$20 each on Basic.
- How much does a one-minute explainer video cost?
- One finished minute from AutoScribble is 100 credits: GBP 9 / US$12 as a one-off pack, about GBP 4.90 on the Pro plan at GBP 49 / US$65 for 1,000 credits, or about GBP 2.99 on the Studio plan at GBP 299 / US$389 for 10,000 credits.
- Why is per-seat pricing more expensive than it looks?
- Because a seat costs the same whether it makes one video or twenty, and many plans also cap clean exports. Powtoon Lite lists five premium exports a month at US$15 a month billed yearly (checked 13 September 2026), so the sixth video means a bigger plan.
- How often is this pricing table updated?
- It is re-checked against each vendor own published page on a schedule, and the date each figure was checked is shown in the table caption. The figures here were checked on 13 September 2026.
