At Scantron, we build non-contact measurement systems for manufacturers, quality teams and research laboratories. We help you measure surfaces, shapes and dimensions.
A surface can look right without telling the whole story. Our systems turn those details into data, helping you understand what you are making.
Take our Proscan Magnum, designed for offline surface and shape measurement of sheet products. It measures the shapes left behind when metal is rolled.
Place a sample strip on its flat table, and the system scans for centre and edge buckles. Those waves become measurable, rather than simply visible.
Magnum quantifies wave height, waves per metre and I-values, an industry measure of flatness. It also measures sheet width, edge camber and cross-bow.
Instead of combining manual checks and separate calculations, you can capture multiple shape measurements in a single scan. That means a fuller picture of your sample.
For automated surface inspection, we offer Proscan DDMS 3D Line: our Defect Detection and Measurement System. It combines non-contact sensing with machine-learning defect identification.
A vision system locates surface defects, including scratches, pits and pinholes. A high-resolution sensor then measures each defect’s depth, width and volume.
From scanning to reporting, the process is automated and repeatable. Defects can be classified for severity using operational parameters and assessed against pass-or-fail criteria.
Designed for demanding applications including aerospace, defence and nuclear, the system can also be customised for other industrial sectors. Your inspection requirements shape the conversation.
In dental laboratories, our Proscan 2200 supports analysis of surface finish, erosion and wear. It brings non-contact surface measurement to a different scale of investigation.
For wire production, our non-contact micrometres support diameter and ovality quality control. We cover both inline and offline measurement applications.
For plastics, our applications include process feedback and control of diameter, wall thickness, concentricity and length. The focus is on the dimensions your process needs.
For panels, boards and insulation, we cover speed, length, flatness and dimensional measurements. Different materials call for different measurement priorities.
Across our range, applications extend to surface roughness, surface profile, distance and displacement. We also address measurement of transparent and multilayered materials.
Why choose us? Based in Taunton, we bring more than four decades of experience building non-contact laser measurement systems to your measurement challenge.
Our engineering reaches beyond the laboratory bench. In 2024, we shipped a custom-built Proscan Magnum to a major metal producer in India.
That system used a ten-tonne granite base, providing stability against temperature fluctuations, vibration and movement. It is a tangible example of engineering around measurement conditions.
Whether you need to understand sheet shape or assess surface defects, start with the question your inspection must answer. What do you need to measure?
