Credits, Minutes and What You Are Buying

What a credit is worth, in minutes and in money, on every plan and pack.

Video credits are a unit of finished output, not a unit of effort. On AutoScribble, 100 credits is one finished minute of narrated whiteboard video: 30 seconds costs 50 credits, 60 seconds 100 and 120 seconds 200. A 100-credit pack is GBP 9 or US$12, and new accounts start with 100 welcome credits that never expire.

The short answer

A credit is a way of pricing finished video by the second instead of by the month. On AutoScribble the conversion is fixed and public: 100 credits is one finished minute.

So 30 seconds is 50 credits, 60 seconds is 100 and 120 seconds is 200. Bought as a 100-credit pack that is GBP 9 or US$12, which works out at GBP 0.09 a second. Every plan and pack on this page is converted back to that same unit, so you can compare them in one column.

Why credit pricing confuses people

Credits are used across the industry to mean quite different things. Somewhere they mean a generation attempt, somewhere a second of output, somewhere an export. The same word, three different products.

Our judgement: the confusion is not always accidental. A unit that cannot be converted to minutes without reading three help pages is a unit that is hard to comparison-shop. The fix is simple and we have applied it here — publish the conversion, publish the cost per credit, and let people do the sum.

The test to apply to any credit-priced tool: can you work out, from the pricing page alone, what one finished minute costs? If not, ask before you buy.

How to compare any credit-priced tool

Four steps, and they work on anyone's pricing page.

  • Find the conversion: what does one credit buy? A second of video, a generation, an export, or something else.
  • Convert everything to one finished minute. That is the only unit worth comparing.
  • Divide the plan price by the credits included to get a cost per credit, then multiply by the credits in a minute.
  • Check what happens to a failed or short render. On AutoScribble, a film that comes out shorter than ordered is billed on actual seconds and the difference goes back to your balance.
  • Check expiry. Our 100 welcome credits never expire; for anything else, the terms are shown at the point of purchase.
  • Only then compare against a flat monthly subscription, using the number of minutes you actually make.

Credits to minutes, and what each credit costs

Every published AutoScribble price converted to the same unit. From live pricing records, checked 13 September 2026.

  • The pattern: the more credits arrive at once, the less each one costs. Studio credits cost a third of what single-pack credits cost.
  • Our judgement: cost per credit is the only fair way to compare a plan with a pack, and it is why a plan is not automatically better value — a large pack can beat a small plan.

RUNNING SHORT? Top-up packs use the same credits, so a busy
month on a smaller plan costs GBP 9 per extra finished minute.

What goes wrong

Comparing credits to credits. Two tools quoting 500 credits are not comparable until you know what a credit buys on each. Convert to finished minutes first, always.

Buying the plan with the biggest number. The plans here differ only in how many credits arrive each month. Match the number to the minutes you actually make, then check whether a pack beats it at your volume.

Forgetting the top-up. Plan credits and pack credits behave identically once they are in your balance, so a single busy month does not mean upgrading. One extra finished minute is GBP 9.

How credits work here, in full

You choose 30, 60 or 120 seconds before the film is made, and the cost — 50, 100 or 200 credits — is shown before you confirm. If the finished film comes out shorter than the length you ordered, it is billed on the seconds actually produced and the difference returns to your balance.

Editing or rewriting the script before rendering costs nothing. After rendering, an edit-and-remake produces a new version and uses credits for that new film, again shown before you confirm. New accounts start with 100 welcome credits that never expire — a full finished minute, or two 30-second films.

Next step

Work out the finished minutes you need each month, then read the cost-per-minute column above and pick the cheapest row that covers them. Your welcome credits cover the first minute either way.

Common questions

What are video credits and how do they work?
Credits price finished video by the second rather than by the month. On AutoScribble, 100 credits is one finished minute: 30 seconds costs 50 credits, 60 seconds 100 and 120 seconds 200. Credits from a monthly plan and credits from a one-off pack are identical once they are in your balance.
How many credits is one minute of video?
One hundred. That is the fixed conversion on AutoScribble, so a 100-credit pack at GBP 9 or US$12 buys exactly one finished minute. New accounts start with 100 welcome credits that never expire, which is one full minute or two 30-second films.
Are credits or a monthly subscription better value?
It depends on volume, and cost per credit is the honest way to compare. A Starter plan works out at GBP 6.33 per 100 credits, a 1,500-credit pack at GBP 5.93 and a Pro plan at GBP 4.90. Larger packs can beat smaller plans, so convert both to cost per finished minute before choosing.
What happens if my video is shorter than the length I ordered?
You are billed on the seconds actually produced, and the difference goes back to your credit balance. The length you pick up front sets how the script is written, so films are written to fit rather than trimmed down afterwards.
How do I compare credit pricing between video tools?
Find each tool's conversion — what one credit actually buys — then convert everything to the cost of one finished minute and compare that single number. If a pricing page does not let you work that out without reading help articles, ask the company directly before you buy.
